Scott talks with Joshua about Living Adaptive and his new podcast, This Is A True Story. The 2 of them talk about finding humor in the midst of struggle and discrimination, why people without disabilities know better what terms people with them need to use to describe themselves, and why Jake Paul is an obnoxious genius.
Scott Davidson is an adventure athlete and host of the podcasts Living Adaptive and This Is A True Story. His unfiltered approach to interviews and commitment to speaking his mind has had a notable influence in the development on Adventure Mind.
Tanner and Joshua have one of the most unfiltered conversations on the podcast yet. Topics range between Tanner’s athletic accomplishments, purchasing beer while blind, finding humor in the chaos that is American politics in 2020, and a myriad of other rabbit trails. This episode is not for the squeamish or easily offended. It *is* for those who want to witness a conversation between 2 blind champions from different sports swap stories and find out whether it is ok for visually impaired people to order their own nachos.

Josh’s positivity is immediately apparent to anyone who meets him, and it comes through in this conversation. He attributes much of his positivity to the healing power of the ocean and how fulfilling his life is because of surfing. It is because of his love for the ocean that he has become an advocate for sustainable practices in manufacturing and fishing. Josh doesn’t shy away from darker parts of his story, however. He opens up about his prior addiction to pain relievers and the part that it played in his near death after suffering total kidney and liver failure just ahead of the amputation of both his legs. Josh also shares about the power of music as a creative outlet and how blessed he has been to be able to continue in music as a percussionist.
